James Haywood Studio was born from a personal journey. It began as a search for alternatives to traditional, harmful concrete — but soon became something broader: a study of how form and material can quietly influence how we feel, think, and decide.

Care, precision, and purpose — without noise or excess.

The faces behind the sculptures

Everything happens under one roof — from sketches and material research to mould-making, casting, finishing, electronics, photography, and packing. Every surface, weight, contour, switch, and detail is shaped by our hands, in the same space where ideas are tested and refined. This allows each piece to carry not only its form, but the rhythm, patience, and personality of the people who made it.

James Haywood

experimenter, craftsman

James Haywood is a French–British artist and designer based near Montpellier. Originally trained in aerospace engineering, he moved gradually into art through hands-on research into alternative, sustainable materials. His practice focuses on innovative mineral composites and low-impact fabrication processes, resulting in sculptural objects and furniture that are both timeless and quietly futuristic. Each piece emerges from a dialogue between structure and intuition — engineering meeting poetry.

Morgan Portalier

Morgan is a former professional rugby player, turned metalworker. After first lending a hand during preparations for the 2025 Milan exhibition, he “fell in love” with the practice and progressively became more involved. Morgan brings an unusual balance of finesse and physical strength, and supports every stage of production.
